Built to stop fake listings

Confirmed sellers
Every seller confirms their mobile number by text code and their email address, declares they own the vehicle, and pays by card before a sign goes live. Temporary emails and internet phone numbers are flagged.

VINs are decoded and matched to the vehicle. Sellers privately photograph the VIN plate, and a listing’s vehicle can’t be swapped later.
Complaints & takedowns
Anyone can report a sign. Urgent reports — “that’s my car”, scams, stolen vehicles — hide the listing instantly while our team reviews it, and we can pull listings and ban sellers.
Approved sites only
Signs only link to major car marketplaces with their own fraud teams: AutoTrader, Cars.com, CarGurus, eBay Motors and Facebook Marketplace. Any other link is rejected.

Is ScanAutos a car dealer?
No. ScanAutos.com is not a dealer, broker or lot and never owns or sells vehicles. Every listing is created and controlled by an independent private seller who subscribes to ScanAutos. We provide the sign and a preview page that links to the seller’s own listings — the sale is entirely between buyer and seller. Read the full disclaimer.
I found a ScanAutos sign on my car that I didn’t put there.
Report it at scanautos.com/complaint with the code printed on the sign. Reports like this hide the listing immediately while our team investigates.
Is ScanAutos a classifieds site?
No. There’s no search and no browsing. Each listing is a short preview page that only people who scan your sign (or follow your link) will see, and it sends them to your full listing on the major car sites. Pages are hidden from search engines.
Which car sites can I link to?
AutoTrader, Cars.com, CarGurus, eBay Motors and Facebook Marketplace. We only allow major marketplaces with their own fraud protection, so buyers are never sent to a fake listing page.
Will buyers see my phone number?
Not on your sign, and not on the page. Only when a buyer taps Call, Text or WhatsApp during your hours does their phone get your number — just like any call. Turn off any button you don’t want, or pause contact anytime.
Do buyers need an app?
No. Any phone camera opens the page, and the contact buttons use the buyer’s own phone, WhatsApp or email.
Can buyers buy the car on ScanAutos?
No — and that’s on purpose. You meet, inspect and agree on payment directly. Never accept gift cards, wires or overpayments.
What happens when my listing ends?
Contact stops immediately, and 7 days later your photos and details are permanently deleted. Scanning the old sign just says the listing has ended.
Is there an iPhone or Android app?
