ScanAutos.com is not a car dealer, dealership, used-car lot, broker, agent, auctioneer or lender. We do not buy, sell, own, consign, display, finance, insure, inspect, ship or warrant vehicles.

Listings belong to our subscribers

Every ScanAutos sign and listing page is created, paid for and controlled by an independent private seller (a “subscriber”). The vehicle, photos, price, mileage, description and all other content are supplied solely by that seller. ScanAutos.com is not the seller of any vehicle and is not a party to any transaction between a buyer and a seller.

No verification of vehicles or title

We run automated fraud checks (such as confirming the seller’s phone number and email, decoding the VIN and reviewing complaints), but these checks are limited. ScanAutos.com does not verify ownership, title status, liens, odometer readings, accident or flood history, recalls, emissions or mechanical condition. Badges such as “phone confirmed” describe only that specific check.

As-is sales

Unless the buyer and seller agree otherwise in writing, private-party vehicles are commonly sold as-is, without warranty. Buyers should obtain an independent inspection and a vehicle history report, and confirm that the VIN on the vehicle matches the title and the seller’s ID.

No payments through ScanAutos

ScanAutos.com never accepts, holds or transfers money for a vehicle sale — no deposits, escrow, “vehicle protection”, shipping or holding fees. Anyone asking you to pay ScanAutos for a vehicle is attempting fraud. Report it at scanautos.com/complaint and to local law enforcement.

Third-party sites

Sellers may share their ScanAutos link on other websites. Those sites have their own terms, and any transactions or payment features they offer are provided by them, not by ScanAutos.com.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScanAutos.com is not liable for any vehicle, listing content, communication or transaction between users. See our Terms of Service.
